Monroe Cafe and Lounge

With all the hipster cafes in Penang, it’s refreshing to see a café that strives for a slightly different theme –in this case, it’s the newly opening Monroe Café & Lounge.

Located in the Heritage 1926 hotel along Burma Road, Monroe café strives for class and elegance as reflected in the interior design of the bar café.

They will be one of the pioneers in Penang serving Premium Italian Musetti coffee with 5 main signature drinks. These drinks include Coquito, Prince Frappentini, Chocolate Kiss Iced Coffee (with alcohol), Cointreau Souffle Coffee (with alcohol), and the Godfather of Coffee. Besides that, they will also serve world-renowned Sri Lankan Naturalis tea. As for food, one will be able to order American cuisine such as A La Carte and desserts.

Monroe café opens from 9am – 12 midnight, and the lounge opens from 9am-2am (closes at 3am on Fridays and Saturdays). There will be live bands performing daily except on Sundays.

We spoke to the founder of Monroe and he answered our questions enthusiastically.

We asked him about the idea behind the café and why he chose the name ‘Monroe’. Without any hesitation, he said, ‘This has actually been an idea I’ve had for years. I have always been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe; there’s something about her as an icon and I wanted to create something different from all the other cafes in Penang.’

That is true. Most of us have never lived in the same era as Marilyn Monroe yet we still all know her name. I can imagine that Monroe café is striving for the same timelessness.

全名为Monroe Cafe & Lounge 。

             店家地点位于位Burma Road, 坐落在1926 Heritage  酒店，梦露咖啡厅以个人优雅的气质、高贵的形象作为本店主题，至于为何选择此地，原来“1926” 就是这位已故大明星的出生年份！天时、地利、人和，这不仅仅是难得的机缘，更是难得的缘分。

              询问创办人为何开创此主题咖啡厅，他笑笑答道：“这是我一直想做的事。”一直周旋在他脑里，要如何将他崇拜的偶像让更多人认识，让她发光发亮~
与此同时，更希望可以创造一间让人回忆咖啡厅。

              梦露咖啡厅主要提供意大利咖啡（著名的Musetti），还有斯里兰卡茶。除此之外，还提供主要正餐还有甜点，主要为美式菜系。
               大多数像我们城市中人都渐渐忘了早前偶像灿烂的辉煌和年代，在这间Cafe & Lounge 诞生之际，让我们一起回归最初的美好吧！
Monroe Cafe 营业时间将于早上9 点至凌晨 12 点正，Lounge 的开店时间则为早上9 点至凌晨2 点正。
* 星期五 & 六营业结束时间为凌晨3点正。 
* 每晚都有Live Band  的演奏，除了星期日。
