全槟最大型的飞镖比赛在昨晚顺利落幕！
A line had been drawn. It was as near as they could stand from their target, and now it was up to them to aim as accurately as they could.
I’m not sure what you were thinking when you read that, but I suppose I could be writing about a line of men at the urinals… or one of the biggest dart competitions in the north of Malaysia. It’s the latter.

SS Snooker Station 举办的飞镖射击比赛正式圆满结束，一场场刺激的对决，高潮迭起的对比，胜利的欢呼声不绝于耳，绝对让你看得热血沸腾！
昨晚我小编也在场观看了这场赛事，因公司也是赞助商之一，很荣幸可以参观到这次的比赛，为活动增添了不少声色，昨天的赛事吸引了大批好手报名，连同飞镖爱好者前来观赏，反应非常热烈，总共有32 个队伍，各别有着自己的组团队员，个个英俊潇洒，高大威猛，哇~ 是女的都会被迷上了，哈哈
There was a great turnout which comprised of teams that were competing as well as their supporters. When the competition began, everyone crowded around the four flashing dart machines.
One could feel the intense concentration suspended within the crowd as each player moved into place, stood poised with their lucky dart before it left their fingers and flew towards their fate.
The best team could win RM 2000, the second best RM 1500 and even the third best had RM1000 to walk away with. Most other dart competitions usually only gave out RM200 for the grand prize, thus compared to most, if not all the other competitions, this one was the Olympics.

错过这次比赛的朋友没关系，除了这场赛事，主办当局Phoenix Malaysia 也会在不同地点举办不少的比赛，尤其weekly competition （每星期的赛事）将会送出Voucher 礼券，
大型的一个月也有举办两至四次，一般由有兴趣的赞助商合力赞助，根据地点来举办。除了送出丰厚的奖金，也包含了奖牌，荣誉文凭等予胜出的队伍。
玩法也规定为3盘2 胜的形式，三连式模式从【701 – Cricket – Choice 】

This competition was organised by Phoenix darts, one of the most popular dart companies in the world with communities in over 13 countries. We managed to speak to the organiser himself, (nicknamed, Ah Guang), and this is what he told us:
Q: How often are these competitions usually held? Are they an annual affair?
A: Actually, these competitions are held a lot more frequent than that. There is usually a competition each week, or at the very least, once a fortnight. However, those are usually on a very small scale without prizes as lavish as the ones to be won today.
Q: What are the types of games being competed today?
A: It is usually these three types of dart games that are played in competitions -701, Cricket and Choice.
Q: How many teams are competing today and how many people are there in a team? Is there usually a good turnout to these events?
A: 32 teams and they compete in singles or doubles. There is usually quite a good crowd as a group of supporters will come along. Many of them are also not just from Penang, but various places.
Q: Do they have to pay a fee to participate?
A: It is a standard fee that they pay.
Q: Are these dart machines available in many places across Penang?
A: It is really getting quite popular at the moment, and there are over 50 000 machines just in Penang itself. Besides that, we have a Phoenix Malaysia community across the country.
Q: Let’s say I would like to join this community, how could I go about it? What sort of online platforms are you on?
A: We have a Facebook page; Phoenix Malaysia for nationwide as well as individual state ones. Phoenix also has an app, where members could look up available machines in nearby places.
Q: How much is it to join Phoenix darts as a member?
A: It is RM35 for a Phoenix membership, and this membership can connect you with players all over the world through our online system. It is now possible for you to play with someone in, say, America, as the points will be calculated before being synced throughout the entire system.

Not that I’ve had much exposure to darts and its fine details, but I never knew those facts. To be honest, I’d never even known that there were specific rules to playing darts. I thought that darts was just about trying to aim as close to the bulls-eye as possible. Who would’ve thought that there was an entire community of enthusiasts that existed!
Still, I could appreciate that SS Snooker Station (the bar that the competition was held at) was wide and spacious, leaving me with enough space to navigate my way around as I snapped my photos. The staff at the bar were also very friendly and the food and drinks were decent.
Before I left, I also managed to interview a few participants.
Q: Why do like this game? How did you start getting into it?
A: I think it’s really fun, and started playing frequently with friends.
Q: I’ve heard that darts isn’t a cheap game or hobby to have. How much on average would you usually spend on each game?
A: For a four-hour practice, my friends and I would typically spend about RM500. This is to be expected because each round costs money.
Q: Wow, it definitely is a rich man’s game then, haha! Why do you like Phoenix darts then?
A: I really like their sound system and I believe that they have a fairer system too.
Q: What are your thoughts about this competition then?
A: It’s definitely very exciting. Exciting but also slightly stressful, especially when entering the finals. However, we can’t allow ourselves to stress too much either because that can cause things like shaky hands and in turn, affect our performance.
Q: That is true for many things in life. How long have you been playing though?
A: 10 months.
Q: Wow, just 10 months and you’re already entering competitions! Pretty impressive. All the best and thanks for speaking to us!
